The Training Workshop on Technopreneurship for the Caribbean

The above training workshop jointly organised by ISTIC and CARISCIENCE in collaboration with CARICOM Science, Technology and Innovation Committee and USAINS was held at the Grafton Beach Resort from 5 – 9 May 2014. It was officiated by the Rt. Hon. Dr. Keith Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada and Prime Minister responsible for Science and Technology in CARICOM. Director of ISTIC Dato’ Dr Samsudin Tugiman gave the welcome address. Others who spoke during the opening were Hon. Orville London, Chief Secretary, Tobago House of Assembly and Prof. Emeritus Harold Ramkissoon, Chair, CARICOM Science, Technology and Innovation. 32 participants attended this training workshop including 3 from outside the Caribbean. The Training programme provided participants with necessary learning experience on the process and steps on how to commercialize inventions, technology or patents, to develop a business plan, and for universities and research universities who have not established a commercialization unit to establish such unit based on the model of USAINS.
