Open science promotes the broad and equitable access to scientific knowledge, including publications, data, methods, and tools—by encouraging transparency, collaboration, and public engagement. It seeks to make science more inclusive and participatory, enabling both professionals and non-specialists to contribute to and benefit from research.
ISTIC actively supports the development and adoption of open science practices, particularly in developing countries. Through capacity-building activities, policy dialogues, and technical workshops, ISTIC works with institutions and governments to promote open access, data sharing, and inclusive research methodologies. In partnership with key organizations, ISTIC helps create enabling environments where scientific knowledge is shared more widely and contributes to sustainable development.
