Training Workshop on Technopreneurship for Women in Science, Technology and Innovation
5-9 September 2016, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The above workshop was organised in collaboration with the NAM Institute for the Empowerment of Women (NIEW) with the support of the Islamic Scientific, Educational and Cultural Organization (ISESCO). The workshop was designed to train participants on the elements of technology-based entrepreneurship. 32 delegates from 15 countries comprising scientists and researchers from research centres and universities participated. 15 were from Malaysia. Other countries represented were Algeria, Cambodia, Egypt, Ghana, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Swaziland Tunisia and Tanzania.
Madam Normalia Ibrahim, Director of NIEW gave the welcome remarks while Dato’ Dr. Samsudin Tugiman, Chairman of ISTIC Governing Board delivered the opening speech and officiated the workshop.

The workshop adopted interactive approach to ensure maximum active participations among the trainees by utilising case methods, actual project presentations and collaborative interactions.
The content of the training workshop focused totally on technopreneurship development which deliberated on the modules below:
- Introduction to Technology Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship
- Business Plan & Business Model Canvas
- Commercialisation Ecosystem Development
- Company Visits
Hence the workshop created an opportunity for the participants to gain necessary knowledge and exposure on technopreneurship and technological solutions also a better and clearer understanding of the requirements in writing a good business proposal. The participants trained in the workshop hopefully can provide the training and leadership on technopreneurship to others from their own countries (Train the Trainer). The workshop also provided a platform for networking among participants.

The Deputy Secretary-General (Operation), Ministry of Women, Family and Community, Dato’ Wee Beng Ee gave the closing speech. At the end of the workshop, Certificates of Attendance were given to all participants by both Dato’ Wee Beng Ee and Dato’ Dr. Samsudin Tugiman.
