Our flagship programme is dedicated to strengthening the pillars of this ecosystem– nurturing talent, fostering transdisciplinary collaboration, enhancing institutional capacity, and connecting researchers across borders.
By bringing together policymakers, universities, research institutions, and communities, ISTIC helps to bridge gaps in resources and knowledge, while promoting equitable partnerships that accelerate discovery and application.
This programme not only empowers scientists to generate solutions for local and global challenges, but also ensures that research outcomes are translated into real impact for societies. In building resilient research ecosystems, ISTIC aspires to transform knowledge into shared progress, where the South shapes the global future with purpose and impact.
Global Innovation Research Consortuim
Global Innovation Research Consortium (GIRC)is a collaborative platform that brings together leading scientists to advance research and capacity-building in key science, technology, innovation, and engineering (STIE) fields. It promotes international cooperation, particularly between countries of the Global South, and encourages shared prosperity through inclusive partnerships.
ISTIC plays an active role in GIRC by facilitating dialogue, coordinating joint initiatives, and supporting research efforts aligned with national and global development priorities. Areas of focus include emerging technologies such as nanotechnology, the promotion of science education, and the development of knowledge-based economies.
GIRC also contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by engaging global experts in locally relevant challenges. Operating under the Penta Helix model (connecting academia, industry, government, and international partners) GIRC supports collaborative research, knowledge exchange, and innovation ecosystems. Through its involvement, ISTIC helps ensure that research efforts are inclusive, impactful, and strategically aligned with sustainable development.
Global South Research Universities Alliance
The Global South Research Universities Alliance (GSRUA) is an emerging collaborative network that brings together research-intensive universities across what’s commonly referred to as the “Global South”—regions in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
