MALAYSIA : ISTIC’s Participation in the ASM–AASSA Workshop on Global Challenges in a Postnormal World


The International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre (ISTIC) took part in the ASM–AASSA Workshop on “Addressing Global Challenges in a Postnormal World,” organized by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) in collaboration with the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA), on the 22nd and 23rd in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The workshop gathered representatives from ASEAN Member States and AASSA Members to share perspectives on strengthening resilience, adaptability, and regional contributions in addressing global challenges through Science, Technology and Innovation (STI).
Representing ISTIC, Prof. ChM. Dr. Mohd Basyaruddin Abdul Rahman, Chair of the ISTIC Governing Board, participated in the panel session “Regional Dialogue on ASEAN from the Lens of Other Regions.”
During this dialogue, Prof. Basyaruddin presented the role of ISTIC as a platform for fostering science diplomacy, capacity building, and cross-regional collaboration.
By connecting policymakers, researchers, and innovators, ISTIC contributes to enhancing ASEAN’s global relevance in the STIE landscape and supports efforts to promote inclusive and sustainable growth.
