MALAYSIA: ISTIC took part to the National Planetary Health Forum

ISTIC was honored to be invited to the National Planetary Health Forum, organized on the 20th of November by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) in Kuala Lumpur.
This national-level event brought together stakeholders from government, academia, industry, and international organizations to advance Malaysia’s commitment to planetary health.
The Forum aimed to present the National Planetary Health Action Plan (NPHAP), developed by ASM under the mandate of the National Science Council through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI). This strategic plan positions planetary health as a core component of Malaysia’s development agenda and complements national priorities such as the 13th Malaysia Plan.
The plan encompasses six key result areas, 53 strategies, and 222 action plans, guided by humanity-centric, STI-enabled, nature-based, and values-driven principles.
Speakers and panelists from diverse fields, ranging from public policy and academia to environmental management and civil society, shared insights on how Malaysia can strengthen its resilience and accelerate sustainable transformation.
The panel session, “Advancing Planetary Health: Bridging Policy and Practice”, emphasized the need to connect national strategies with practical implementation on the ground.
The event highlighted the importance of collective action, cross-sector collaboration, and shared values of sustainability, innovation, trust, and compassion.
As a platform supporting climate change initiatives in the Global South, ISTIC is proud to stand behind Malaysia’s national policies and efforts towards a more sustainable future !
