The I<\/span>nternational Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation<\/span> (ISTIC)<\/span><\/span> <\/span>participated<\/span> in the <\/span><\/span>40th Annual Plenary Meeting of the <\/span><\/span>InterAction Council<\/span><\/span><\/a>,<\/span><\/span> held in <\/span><\/span>Hong Kong<\/span><\/span> from <\/span><\/span>18 to 20 May 2026<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>The meeting serves as an important platform for dialogue and collaboration among political leaders, academics, and institutions from across the world.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/h5>\n
ISTIC was represented by Azim Noor as part of the delegation of the <\/span><\/span>Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World (AETDEW)<\/span><\/span><\/a>,<\/span><\/span> led by Ir. <\/span><\/span>Choo Kok Beng,<\/span><\/span> President of AETDEW, together with <\/span><\/span>Academician <\/span>Dato\u2019 Ir. Lee Yee Cheong<\/span><\/span>, Honorary President of AETDEW and <\/span><\/span>Honorary Chair of ISTIC.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In his role\u00a0as\u00a0Programme\u00a0Executive, Azim Noor supported\u00a0ISTIC\u2019s\u00a0engagement in the fields of Artificial and Digital Technology.\u00a0<\/strong>He\u00a0participated\u00a0in the AETDEW\/InterAction Council Roundtable Session on \u201cSustainable Development in the Global South\u201d<\/strong> held on 18 May 2026.\u00a0During the session, he shared ISTIC\u2019s ongoing initiatives and international partnerships in the areas of Big Data\u00a0and\u00a0Artificial Intelligence (AI)<\/strong>, and AI Education for the Global South<\/strong>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

During the\u00a0plenary meeting,\u00a0he highlighted ISTIC\u2019s long-standing collaboration with the\u00a0<\/span>International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (IKCEST)<\/span><\/b><\/a>\u00a0in advancing capacity-building\u00a0programmes\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span>Artificial Intelligence (AI)\u00a0and Big Data<\/span><\/b>\u00a0for developing countries since 2017.\u00a0He also\u00a0talked on\u00a0ISTIC\u2019s latest initiative on\u00a0<\/span>AI Education,<\/span><\/b>\u00a0developed in collaboration with\u00a0<\/span>Chinese AI education experts<\/span><\/b>\u00a0and the\u00a0<\/span>Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World (AETDEW)<\/span><\/b><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Sri Bestari Private School.<\/span><\/b><\/a>\u00a0The initiative aims to\u00a0organize\u00a0annual workshops for primary and secondary school teachers from Malaysia and\u00a0developing\u00a0countries, with the\u00a0objective\u00a0of\u00a0<\/span>strengthening knowledge and teaching capacities in AI education.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The participation of ISTIC in this high-level international forum reflects the Centre\u2019s continued commitment to fostering\u00a0<\/span><\/span>South-South cooperation<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and strengthening global partnerships with\u00a0<\/span><\/span>China and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World (AETDEW)<\/span><\/span><\/a>. This collaboration is further reinforced through the joint development of a new AI Education for the Global South<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0initiative<\/span><\/strong>,<\/strong> the<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>AEGiS<\/span>\u00a0Consortium<\/span><\/span><\/strong>,<\/strong> an international platform dedicated to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>AI education, public awareness, teacher capacity development, and the advancement of South-South cooperation.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
