On <\/span><\/span>18th August<\/strong> 2025<\/span><\/span>, the <\/span><\/span>International Webinar on Climate Change Education: Preparing Teachers for a Sustainable Future<\/span><\/span> took place online, bringing together pre-service teachers, in-service teachers, and lecturers from Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and beyond. The event was hosted by the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Institute of Teacher Education Technical Education Campus (IPG Kampus Pendidikan Teknik)<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and streamed live via YouTube and Facebook.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The <\/span>webinar<\/span> served as a platform to exchange ideas on how <\/span><\/span>climate change education (CCE)<\/strong><\/span><\/span> can be effectively integrated into teaching practices, particularly at the early childhood and primary education levels<\/span> in <\/span>Southeast<\/span> Asia<\/span><\/strong>.<\/strong> Global, regional, and local experts shared strategies to equip educators with the tools and knowledge needed to address climate challenges in the classroom. Discussions highlighted <\/span><\/span>innovative pedagogies<\/span><\/span>, including <\/span><\/span>Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE)<\/strong><\/span><\/span> and <\/span><\/span>Project-Based Learning (PBL)<\/span><\/span><\/strong>,<\/strong> as well as experiences from diverse educational contexts.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

ISTIC <\/span>was<\/span> represented<\/span> by <\/span>its<\/span> Director<\/span>, <\/span><\/span>Sharizad<\/span> Dahlan<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>who<\/span> presented<\/span> on the <\/span><\/span>state of <\/span>climate<\/span> change <\/span>education<\/span> in Asia<\/span><\/span> and <\/span>highlighted<\/span> practical<\/span> <\/span>solutions <\/span>developed<\/span> and <\/span>supported<\/span> by ISTIC<\/span><\/span>. Her intervention <\/span>underscored<\/span> the importance of <\/span>capacity<\/strong><\/span> building and collaboration<\/strong> in <\/span>strengthening<\/span> teachers<\/span>\u2019 <\/span>ability<\/span> to <\/span>deliver<\/span> effective <\/span>climate<\/span> change <\/span>education<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Alongside ISTIC, speakers included representatives from the <\/span><\/span>Office for Climate Education (OCE) in Paris<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span><\/a> Green Growth Asia Foundation<\/span><\/span><\/a> (<\/span><\/span><\/strong>GGAF<\/span>)<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span><\/span>and other international organizations, <\/span>providing<\/span> a wide range of perspectives on the role of <\/span>climate change <\/span>education in fostering sustainability.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
