Training Workshop on Technopreneurship for Developing Countries

International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation under the auspices of UNESCO (ISTIC) in collaboration with Isfahan Regional Centre for Technology Incubators and Science Park Development under the auspices of UNESCO (IRIS) and Isfahan Science and Technology Town (ISTT) organized the Training Workshop on Technopreneurship for Developing Countries in Isfahan, Iran from 10 – 14 May 2016. The training workshop was graced by the Mayor of Isfahan H.E. Mehdi Jamalinejad. Dato’ Dr. Samsudin Tugiman (Director of ISTIC), Dr. Mohammad Javad Omidi (Director of IRIS) and Dr. Keshmiri (President, ISTT) gave their welcome address at the training workshop.

A total of 30 participants comprising 17 participants from Iran and 13 participants from outside Iran attended the Training Workshop.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ISTIC and IRIS was signed by Dato’ Dr. Samsudin Tugiman, Director of ISTIC and Dr. Mohammad Javad Omidi, Director of IRIS at the opening session of the workshop. The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Mayor of Isfahan and dignitaries present.

The 5-day training workshop provided the learning experience on the various steps and processes on technopreneurship and on how to develop a business plan. All participants at the end of the workshop produced and presented their business plans. As part of the programme, participants visited IRIS and ISTT. During the visit, participants were briefed on the activities and ongoing projects at ISTT and IRIS. ISTT has to date provided services and infrastructure facilities to about 400 startup companies in Isfahan.
