Visit to National STEM Learning Centre

The three hour visit was made with a view to gain further insights into the functions and activities of the Centre with a special focus on the management of and priority areas of Continuous Professional Development (CPD), teaching / learning resources and quality assurance, and support & monitoring. The general overview of the Centre was made by Ms. Karen Hornby of the International Relations Section while the session on Monitoring and Evaluation was done by Mr. Ben Dunn and his colleague.
The National STEM Learning Centre is an agency that provides continuous professional development (CPD) programmes for science and mathematics teachers as well as technicians involved the teaching of science in schools. The CPDs are mainly targeted at science and mathematics teachers at the secondary school level. The Centre is financially supported by the Wellcome Trust, the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, the government, Partners of Project Enthuse and other sponsors of STEM related activities.
